Shower & Smiles

The mommy to be, getting some practice!
Last weekend Evelyn joined me at a shower for Laura, one of my many pregnant coworkers. (Seriously--there must be something in the water at that school!!) We had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed getting out of our own apartment for awhile. We look forward to meeting Laura's baby boy later this summer :)

Wonderful Jennifer--she is teaching my class during my leave.

Evelyn always likes seeing Funmi

In other news, Evelyn is becoming an expert smiler! It's very nice to finally get some positive feedback from her, it makes the crying fits and sleepless night worth it.
For some reason the smiley shots end up blurry--but you get the idea.

And a few more shots demonstrating Evelyn's expertise at tummy time...

This is her intense look.

6 weeks and future thumb-sucker

Evelyn turned 6 weeks yesterday! Here are some pictures from her photo shoot with Snoopy...

Which looks more delicious? The baby or the cupcakes? (Thanks for those, Erika :) )
Evelyn is still not a pacifier girl. She is, however, trying very hard to find her thumb! She's figured it out a few times, but alas, not in the video below. For our more sensitive readers, please beware: there are a few very pathetic baby tears at the end. Don't worry, she was quickly rescued.

A Robust Baby

Either Snoopy is shrinking, or this baby is getting bigger!

Evelyn is looking quite robust these days, according to her pediatrician. At her one month visit today she tipped the scales at 11 lbs 8 oz, and she's now 21 3/4 inches long.  Evelyn also got her Hepatitis B shot, which she was NOT happy about. I've never seen anyone's face turn from a content pink to an irate purple so fast!

In other news, Evelyn made her first trip out of the big city last weekend. We visited Tinley Park to celebrate Grandma Marilyn's birthday. Evelyn got to meet lots of cousins and aunts, and I think she charmed them all.
Evelyn with Victoria

Jax spent most of the beautiful afternoon inside Grandma and Grandpa's house... too many booms for his liking.

We were also lucky enough to have a full meal brought and prepared for us by the Schwerha family. They even did the dishes! They can come back anytime ;)
Lola enjoyed "Baby Evelyn," but was not interested in being photographed!
That's about it! Just a few more cute pictures...
Can you spot the baby?

She put herself in this pose--just begging for a picture.
